My journey began when I was 10 years old.
My dad showed me how to invest in stocks for the first time. We purchased 1 share of this company called Red Hat.
My dad explained to me if you hold on to this share and don’t sell, then it has the potential of being worth more than what you purchased it for.
From this first lesson, I became fascinated with the overall concept of investing. I also had the advantage of my father being an entrepreneur himself.
He was a real estate investor and owned multiple other businesses throughout my childhood. I would say that being an entrepreneur was in my DNA.
Throughout my childhood, I continued to watch my dad, ask him questions, and slowly learn valuable lessons about business and life.
After I graduated from high school, I decided to attend college at The Ohio State University. Originally I thought I wanted to be an architect because I enjoyed drawing and building 3D puzzles.
I quickly changed paths, when my counselor told me that the architect program was 8 years. After realizing this, I quickly shifted my degree to Education, as now I was going to pursue being a sports agent.
By the time my Sophomore year came around in college, I still had aspirations of being an entrepreneur, so I ended up doing an internship with a startup company called RealEsateInvestor.com.
It was for 6 months and my role was to connect with people on Myspace and get them to join the real estate platform. I didn’t get paid for 6 months, but I learned the skillset of online marketing from my mentors at the company and I became hooked.
After 6 months, they offered me a paid role, where I stayed on for another 3 months and then left to pursue my own endeavors. Now that I had the skillset of doing online marketing, I began to find local businesses that needed help with their marketing.
I began to get a few clients while in college and this was additional money that I made because I had a regular job as well.
By the time I graduated college, I had built up a steady income that allowed me to quit my other jobs and focus on getting more clients.
After graduating from college, I moved to Atlanta with my best friend at the time because he was also an entrepreneur. Our goal was to build online businesses together.
Unfortunately this didn’t work out for us and we went our separate ways. I continued to get more clients now that I lived in Atlanta. I lived there for 3 years, then I decided to move to Orlando, FL.
After I settled in here, I took a partnership role in a growing marketing agency. When I started working there, it was only a team of 3 people.
Fast forward a few years later and we had a team of 10 people. I helped grow that business to million dollars in yearly revenue and ran my own SEO division.
After seeing a lot of different business models that clients were doing; i.e. e-commerce, local services, and affiliate marketing, the one that stood out to me was affiliate marketing. The idea of promoting someone else's product and receiving a commission without having to talk to anyone fascinated me.
While working at the agency, I stumbled upon this one offer where individuals can invest a portion of their retirement savings into precious metals like gold and silver. This was right up my alley, as I was already passionate about finance from my earlier childhood years.
So I built a website about precious metals, took my SEO skillset and knowledge, and began to establish traffic to the website. The website got to the point where I was making more money from it, then I was at the agency.
So I decided to leave the agency and move to San Diego, CA in order to continue growing this business. After a year, I became one of the top affiliates in the entire space.
A year later, I ended up selling that website for just under one million dollars. I had a non-compete for a few years after the sale, so I decided to start traveling for a bit.
Out of this came higher commissions, relationships with the founders, and even was a part of an info product launch. Merging my passion for finance, with marketing, was my dream career.
It has allowed me to travel the world, visit 40 countries, and be able to live anywhere that I want.
Throughout this journey, I have:
Launched and sold over 10 websites
Had multiple business failures
Tried e-commerce, service businesses, and partnerships
Own 10 single-family properties
Invested in property in Mexico
Built a million dollar stock portfolio
Purchased my parents house that they currently live in.
